Sunrise Trail Head - Anza-Borrego Desert State Park

Don't have six months or so of vacation time to hike the entire Pacific Crest Trail (PCT)? Why not try a picturesque portion of the trail that traversers through Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. An easily accessible point, along the "must drive" Sunshine Highway, at a cool 5,000 feet, is the Sunshine Trail Head. There are spectacular views with vistas showing the diverse geology and ecosystems from high alpine to the desert floor. Whether hiking for 10 minutes or 10 miles you'll be rewarded by the natural wonder that abounds around you. The signed parking area is easily accessible from the Sunrise Highway (S1) close by mile 34.5.  From Julian follow Rte 79 to the Sunrise Highway (S1) turnoff.
